Referral process
At The Grove Practice, we aim to make the dental referral process as smooth and collaborative as possible for you and your patients. Below is a step-by-step guide to our referral process:
1. Initial Conversation
If you prefer, you can contact us first to discuss your patient’s case. Whether you need advice on whether to refer or would like us to perform a specific treatment, or understand more about the particular problem, we’re here to help.
2. Submit Referral Form
Once you decide to refer a patient, simply fill out our referral form, providing all necessary details about the case and any specific treatment needs. We will let you know once we have received your referral . If you are not sure what to refer, our referral criteria guide below may be helpful.
3. Patient Assessment
We will contact your patient to arrange an initial consultation at The Grove Practice, where we will carry out a comprehensive assessment, including x-rays as indicated. We will let you know once we have seen your patient.
4. Treatment Plan Report
A consultation report will be shared with you once we have seen your patient and determined our diagnoses and formulated a treatment plan. We will advise you of any routine aspects of the treatment plan that we would like you to carry out on your patient whilst we manage the specialist aspects.
5. Progress Updates
Throughout the treatment process, we will keep you informed of your patient’s progress. You will receive regular updates after their re-assessment visits (usually 3 months after treatment), so that you are fully aware of their progress. We encourage patients to keep up their routine check ups as normal but we will advise if any routine check ups or hygiene visits should be delayed.
6. Returning the Patient to Your Care
Once the treatment is completed, we will refer the patient back to your continued care. A detailed report will be provided with any long term recommendations for maintenance of their periodontal health.
Code of Practice
1. Referred patients will not be accepted for any treatment other than that which the referring clinician has requested.
2. A full written report, including a copy of x-rays will be sent to the referring dentist and a copy to the patient.
3. Regular reports after re-assessments will be provided.
4. Treatment will only be carried out after a full estimate of fees has been given to the patient and consent for treatment obtained.
Fees
Our consultation fee is £160 and includes x-rays, and a diabetes screen if required. We can also offer your patient finance options including in-house payment plans to make treatment more affordable.
